Emma Blanchard (class of 2018) is an English major from Bloomington, Illinois. Her paper “Ali Cobby Eckermann’s Ruby Moonlight: Remembering the Past as a Means of Returning to Indigenous Culture” has been accepted for presentation at the 32nd annual conference of the American Association of Australian Literary Studies (AAALS). The conference will be held at New York University in April.
This year’s conference will feature papers and keynotes by leading scholars from Australia, Europe and North America, as well as readings from a number of noted Australian creative writers. Two time Booker Prize winner Peter Carey is scheduled to attend.
Emma’s paper is drawn from her honor’s thesis on Australian indigenous women’s writing. The research project was also recently awarded TCU Women and Gender Studies’ Llangollen Award for Undergraduate Research and Creative Activity.
