02/22/2024 - The 2024 W. Charles Sawyer Memorial Lecture will feature Dr. Stephanie Kelton, former economist for the Senate Budget Committee and advisor to presidential candidate Bernie Sanders.

The inaugural W. Charles Sawyer Memorial Lecture will take place at 7pm on Thursday, February 22, in BLUU Auditorium. A private screening of Finding the Money, the award-winning documentary on how federal government budgeting really works will be followed by Q&A with Dr. Stephanie Kelton, former economist for the Senate Budget Committee and advisor to presidential candidate Bernie Sanders. She is currently Professor of Economics and Public Policy at Stony Brook University. In addition to her scholarly work, Dr. Kelton is the author of New York Times Best Seller, The Deficit Myth: Modern Monetary Theory and the Birth of the People's Economy (2020, Public Affairs).
