With the nation’s semiquincentennial on the horizon, Texas Christian University is taking a fresh look at the Revolutionary War through the LCpl. Benjamin W. Schmidt Symposium on War, Conflict, and Society. Organized by the Department of History, the event brings scholars together to examine the era from multiple vantage points, moving beyond familiar narratives to consider how the conflict shaped everyday lives across different communities. By emphasizing lesser-heard perspectives and the broader effects of war, the symposium invites participants to think more critically about the Revolution’s legacy and its relevance as the country prepares to mark 250 years since its founding.
