MA in English
The tuition-free Master’s degree in English at TCU offers a flexible program of study that awards full tuition remission for several students each year in exchange for working as a teaching or program assistant. Our students engage a range of language arts skills, including composition, rhetoric and literary analysis skills, along with an array of other lifelong interdisciplinary skills, such as critical thinking, communication, research and information literacy skills, which can be applied to a variety of academic, social and professional environments. An MA in English prepares graduates to teach English at the college level and/or pursue a PhD in rhetoric, literature, creative writing or professional writing. It can also prepare graduates for careers in marketing, journalism, publishing and many other professions.
Selena Humphrey, M.A. candidate
"My time at TCU as a graduate student has been shaped by faculty mentors who really
took the time to understand my past experiences and future goals and made room for
me to grow by involving me in projects that mattered to me. Through working closely
with them, I’ve learned so much about editing, publishing, and developing programs
in areas like scholarly and creative writing, image work, and digital humanities.
These opportunities have completely changed the direction of my journey and opened
doors I hadn’t imagined before."
