Accelerated M.A. in English
If you are interested in fast-tracking your advanced education, the accelerated MA program is for you.
The Accelerated Master’s in English provides exceptional undergraduate students the opportunity to earn both the bachelor’s and master’s degrees in five years via a focused and accelerated program. The accelerated master’s degree is open only to full time students pursuing the BA in English or Writing and Rhetoric.
Students planning to apply for this program should seek advising as soon as possible, preferably at the end of their sophomore or beginning of their junior year of study. Students may apply for admission into the accelerated master’s after earning 60 hours of undergraduate coursework. During the semester prior to graduation from the BA program, students should seek advising from the director of graduate studies to plan for the final two semesters of graduate coursework.
Consult the Graduate Catalog for more information. For questions about the application process not covered in the catalog or on this page, email Dr. David Colón, Director of Graduate Studies, at david.colon@tcu.edu.

Libby Maack
"My time in the accelerated MA was invaluable to my acceptance to and current work
in in my graduate program. I was initially drawn to the program because it offered
an excellent way to get a head start on graduate-level work while completing my undergraduate
degree. Thanks to the courses I took while in the program, I was able to challenge
myself as well as receive truly fantastic guidance and instruction from the English
faculty, both with the application process and with my research."

“What originally drew me to the accelerated MA in English was a promised Master’s
degree in English in five years—completing one half my senior year of undergrad, and
the other during my fifth year. As a student-athlete at TCU with an additional covid
year of eligibility, this offered me the chance to pursue my interests in literature
whilst staying in a department of professors who helped mentor me in my undergrad
and competing another year in athletics."
