Focus: Collaborative Explorations of the Impact of Artificial Intelligence on Our World

Panelist: Connor Beattie

Connor Beattie headshot

Beattie is a general studies major with an emphasis in English. He is a passionate writer, an aspiring independent author and publisher. With experience in athletic marketing and a strong foundation in creative storytelling, project management and rural entrepreneurship, he brings a dynamic, interdisciplinary voice to conversations on community-building, innovation and sustainable living. He is also actively developing a self-sustaining family ranch focused on Highland beef, fresh produce and regenerative practices.

Panelist: T.J. Rodriguez

Rodriguez is a digital culture and data analytics major (DCDA) with a minor in criminal justice. He is an active student in several clubs across campus and an avid golfer. Fun Facts: His birthday is on Halloween. He is currently the creator of two popular AI chatbots on Character. AI: Sombra at 2.1 million user interactions and Sabine Wren at 505.7 thousand user interactions. He is a 2024 Fall Semester Talking Frogs Champion.

Panelist: Hadley Whytlaw

Whytlaw is a political science major with a strong interest in environmental policy and sustainable development. She is interested in how artificial intelligence can challenge and enhance government, specifically in the world of policymaking. She is involved in Kappa Alpha Theta, the John V. Roach Honors Student Cabinet and TCU Yearbook. Outside the classroom, she enjoys cooking, spending time with friends and family and exploring Fort Worth.

Focus: General Internship Seeking/Self-Advocacy in the Job Market

Valdes is a junior earning her double degree in Economics and Sociology with a minor in honors  from Austin, Texas. While at TCU, Ava has served as a Peer Advisor for the Sociology & Anthropology department, and as the Co-Director for the AddRan Ambassador Leadership Academy for the 2024-25 academic school year. This summer she plans to relocate to Arizona to intern in Fraud & Claims for Wells Fargo. 

 

 

Joe Winick

 

Winick is a Senior, studying Political Science, with minors in Criminal Justice and Communications studies from Austin, Texas. During his time at TCU, Joe has worked as a legislative intern in the State Senate, a government account intern at T-Mobile, and finally as a Summer Legal Analyst at Goldman Sachs, were he’ll return to work full-time in July.

Delgadillo is a senior Political Science major with double minors in DCDA and CRES. She has held several internships throughout her undergraduate journey in LVTRise, a nonprofit that serves the West side of Fort Worth, and CCCI, a youth nonprofit based in Rome, Italy. As a Fort Worth native, she is dedicated to bridging the gap between academia and community, creating inclusive spaces in and outside of TCU.

Panelist: Mariana Diaz-Garcia

Diaz-Garcia completed an internship at Catholic Charities of Fort Worth, where she supported refugee families through language education, case management, and outreach. She worked directly with students and families in various settings, including schools, apartment complexes, and community spaces. This experience gave her valuable insights into the challenges refugees face in adapting to life in the U.S. and the importance of providing culturally responsive support to help them thrive.

Harris is a third-year Strategic Communications major on the pre-law track with minors in Political Science and Comparative Race and Ethnic Studies. As an ambitious creative, Winter has interned for 10+ organizations including the White House and American Red Cross. Winter plans to pursue a career in the Political Communications/PR industry.

Panelist: Sam Hunter

Hunter is a current junior from Weatherford, Texas studying political science and philosophy. After graduation, he plans on attending a Texas law school, with the hopes of one day working somewhere in corporate law. In getting there, he has undergone numerous internship opportunities, allowing each experience to enrich intellectual growth! One of those opportunities is an upcoming internship with Amazon, and he will share all the tips, tricks, and connections in-between that landed him with such an amazing company!

Panelist: Kate Thompson

Thompson is a junior at TCU double majoring in Economics and Business Management with plans to attend law school after graduation. She previously interned in fundraising and sales at a nonprofit in Los Angeles, which provided a strong introduction to professional environments and networking. This summer, she will intern in the legal department at U.S. Energy Development Corporation, gaining firsthand exposure to in-house counsel work and a deeper appreciation for the oil and gas industry—a key driver of Fort Worth's growth and identity.

April 17: Beyond Fluency: The Power of Language Skills at any Level - SCHAR 3004 - 3 - 4 PM

Focus: Building Confidence for a Lifelong Language Learning Journey

Duong is a political science major with a with a minor in Asian Studies. In his free time, he enjoys photography, poetry, and working out. This is his second semester of learning Chinese, and he is a member of the Chinese House here at TCU.

Panelist: Valentina Lisboa

Valentina Lisboa headshot

Lisboa is an international student from Bolivia majoring in economics. She enjoys learning about different cultures and languages and believes strong communication skills are essential for meaningful global engagement. Her long-term goal is to apply her knowledge and experience in the field of economics to support development and positive change back home.

Panelist: Pit Marques de Paiva

Pit Marques de Paiva headshot

Marques de Paiva is from Luxembourg and studies Anglophone Literatures and Media at a graduate level at the University of Trier, Germany. Looking to become a language teacher in the future, he is currently taking part in an exchange program with TCU. He is gaining further experience while working as a teaching assistant for German, and as a coordinator for the German House and Club. Apart from his never-ending curiosity for learning about cultures and arts, his hobbies include cooking, acting, watching movies, making music, playing video games and various sports - mainly soccer, basketball, baseball and volleyball.
