What brought you to TCU and what are you studying?

Nicole Thomas

My journey to TCU was inspired by the wonderful experiences that my mother and sister had as students here. I am currently pursuing a double major in English and Comparative Race and Ethnic Studies, along with a minor in Spanish, as I prepare for law school.

What got you into pageantry?

I discovered my passion for pageantry just this past August while searching for scholarship opportunities. I happened upon information on local pageants that provide pathways to the Miss Texas pageant, and it instantly sparked my interest.

How do you balance being a student while competing in pageants?

Balancing my academic commitments with pageantry has been a rewarding challenge. I maintain a strict schedule that allows me to prioritize my studies, ensuring that assignments are completed ahead of pageant days, which I designate for both competition and enjoyment.

Are there skills that cross over between your academic and pageant worlds?

One of the key skills I’ve honed through pageantry is mastering the interview process, which has profound implications for my future career. My academic experiences have taught me the importance of presenting myself effectively, and competing in pageants offers invaluable practice through the interview and on-stage question segments. Additionally, I apply what I learn in my studies to my community service initiatives, further enhancing my ability to serve as a medical advocate and serve my community more effectively.

What are your plans for the future, in terms of academics as well as pageantry?

Looking ahead, I plan to attend law school after graduating from TCU. As for my pageant journey, I am eager to excel in the Miss Texas pageant and explore the opportunities that come with it.

I’m beyond excited for my reign as Ms. Tarrant County! Each appearance offers a chance to connect with others in my community, and I can already feel how these experiences will shape my future. This journey is not just about the title; it’s about growth and learning. I am looking forward to every moment — from the glamorous Visionary Awards Banquet to the fun camaraderie we create at the Y’all Ball. I can't wait to make unforgettable memories with my sister queens and cheer on all the outstanding delegates as they light up the stage!
