The history department’s internship program helps students gain practical experience working in museums and archives or on history-related projects for local organizations.
We have partnerships with several local organizations, including:
- The National Archives at Fort Worth
- The Fort Worth Museum of Science and History
- The Tarrant County Archives
You can also explore other local institutions, and access volunteer opportunities and internship options at local museums and archives. For more information, contact Dr. Alex Hildago.
Earning Credit for Internships
You may pursue these internships on your own, or you may opt to receive academic credit at TCU through HIST 30073—Public Internship in History. To qualify for academic credit for an internship, you must have completed nine hours in history by the beginning of the internship and have a GPA of at least 3.0 overall and in history courses. You must complete 120 hours of work over the course of a semester (approximately eight hours per week) and submit regular reports to your adviser.
