The first-ever Riff Ram Poetry Slam was conducted this past semester on November 6th. This event was fueled by a vision to celebrate the art of spoken-word poetry within
our TCU community through the culmination of hard work, dedication, and passion, bringing
together over one hundred attendees for a night that will remain unforgettable.
The event opened with the soulful sounds of four jazz musicians from the esteemed
TCU Jazz Ensemble, setting the stage for a powerful and diverse lineup of performers.
Fourteen poets from a wide range of majors and backgrounds took the stage, each offering
pieces of their lives that were raw, powerful, and deeply authentic. An incredible
team of ten ASL student volunteers from the COSD department translated the poems live,
ensuring the event was accessible and inclusive for all.
Thank you to every poet, musician, ASL volunteer, and sponsor who helped bring this
vision to life. Here is to the power of stories and the voices that unite us!
