TCU’s Women and Gender Studies department has proudly worked with the community partners listed below. The American Association of University Women (AAUW)

The American Association of University Women advances equity for women and girls through advocacy, education, philanthropy, and research. Each year the association collaborates with the TCU department of Women and Gender Studies to bring scholars to campus.

Center For Transforming Lives (formerly YWCA)

The YWCA works to transform lives of women, children, and their families from poverty to independence through housing stability, high-quality affordable child care and financial self-sufficiency. TCU Women and Gender Studies students have worked with YWCA in several capacities, including internships and service learning projects.

Ladder Alliance

The Ladder Alliance mission is to provide women victims of domestic violence or low-income women with the tools to lead self-reliant, independent, and successful lives. TCU Women and Gender Studies students have worked with YWCA in several capacities, including internships and service learning projects.

The Net of Fort Worth

The Net is a nonprofit in Fort Worth that exists to empower the city to restore dignity to those in poverty through community & relationships. TCU Women and Gender Studies students have served as interns for this organization.

Safe Haven

The mission of SafeHaven is to end domestic violence through safety, support, prevention and social change. Safe Haven offers shelter to women and children in need free of charge. TCU Women and Gender Studies students have worked with Safe Haven in several capacities, including internships and service learning projects.

The Cowgirl Museum

The National Cowgirl Museum and Hall of Fame honors and celebrates women, past and present, whose lives exemplify the courage, resilience and independence that helped shape the American West, and fosters an appreciation of the ideals and spirit of self-reliance they inspire. TCU Women and Gender Studies students have served as interns for this organization.

The Fort Worth Women’s Center

The Women’s Center helps women who are facing serious problems, such as rape and child sexual abuse, unemployment, low wages, deep depression, and other desperate situations associated with violence and poverty by teaching them valuable new skills and strategies that will improve their lives. TCU Women and Gender Studies students have served as interns for this organization.

Girl’s Inc.

Girls Incorporated is a national nonprofit youth organization dedicated to inspiring all girls to be “strong, smart, and bold!” For more than 65 years, Girls Inc. has provided vital educational programs to millions of American girls, particularly those in high-risk, underserved areas. Today, innovative programs help girls confront subtle societal messages about their value and potential, and prepare them to lead successful, independent, and fulfilling lives. TCU Women and Gender Studies students have served as interns for this organization.
