Study Abroad

Take your learning on the go with a study abroad course.

Students smile in front of a castle in Ireland

Expand your horizons by studying abroad in more than 50 countries, plus service-learning trips overseas and internships around the globe. In addition to TCU’s semester, summer, and short-term programs, geography students explore the United States and the world on department-sponsored field trips.

Each year, students attend the American Association of Geographers annual meeting, where they present their research to peers and academic leaders from across the country.

Geography majors can also take international faculty-led field trips to destinations, such as Europe (Paris, Rome), Latin America (Puerto Rico, Guatemala, Costa Rica) and Australia.

Ireland

The last Geography field trip abroad took students enrolled in Geography of Tourism, Environment and Society, and Geography of Western Europe to Ireland and Northern Ireland during spring break 2019. On this week-long road trip across the Emerald Isle, students explored the cities of Belfast, Dublin, and Cork, wandered the grounds of ancient castles, visited Game of Thrones filming sites, experienced the natural wonders of Giant's Causeway and the Wicklow Mountains, sampled traditional Irish fare and folklore, traveled the Wild Atlantic Way, signed Belfast's Peace Wall, and kissed the Blarney Stone.
