    • If you have forgotten your username or password, click the link on the MY.TCU.EDU login page to recover it.

Searching for Classes

One way to plan with flexibility is to use the CLASS SEARCH page, which you can access from the Registrar or from MY.TCU.EDU.

This program allows you to search by subject, TCU CORE, class days, class times and class status (Open, Closed, Permit Only). You can define your search as broadly or narrowly as you choose to design your “perfect schedule.”

For example, if you want to see all the Sociology classes offered for the term:

  • Click the down arrow by Subject Code, scroll down, select SOCI and click on SEARCH.
  • You will see a listing of all courses offered by the Sociology department for the term.
  • Open classes will be listed in black, closed in red, and permit-only classes in blue.
  • This listing also shows class sizes and current enrollment, professor name, meeting days and times, TCU CORE satisfied (if applicable), subject name, course number, section number, and the five-digit class number you need for enrollment.
  • If you don’t want any classes before 10:00 a.m. or after 2:00 p.m., enter those time criteria in the search boxes, click SEARCH, and the computer will list all classes available during those times.
  • You can use the Class Attributes drop-down arrow to designate Freshman Seminar, Honors, Study Abroad, Online Courses, etc. Just remember, the more information you give the computer, the more you can narrow your search.
  • If you prefer to search using an index of course subjects, you may choose the alternate method in Class Search by clicking the GO button in the bottom right of the Class Search panel.

The Purple Schedule Builder is a useful tool that helps you create a personalized academic schedule that suits your needs.

Purple Schedule Builder Instructions

Various departments at TCU will assign you a task to fulfill on My
TCU. If you have a task, it will be noted below the task icon. For example, once a
semester, the Registrar’s office will create a task to have all students verify their address
and telephone information. Each year, Financial Aid will create a task for students that
need to complete their FAFSA. If you have a task to complete, you will click on the task
tile and follow the prompts to complete the task.

  • Enrolling in classes
  • Swap a class
  • After you complete your task, always check on “my class schedule” and make sure your enrollment is correct.

Find your advisor, prepare for advising and learn of important dates. The Registrar’s office is your first resource.

Find my advisor

Yes. You can get a course description on Class Search. Click the Course Catalog Number (i.e., ACCT 20153) in the second column from the left to see the course description.

It means you either have not yet been matriculated by the Admission Office or have not been activated for the term you are trying to enroll in. Contact the Registrar’s Office for troubleshooting: 817-257-7825 or registrar_office@tcu.edu.

Each section of each course number in each subject area has been assigned a unique number:

  • In the spring, the number will start with “3.”
  • In the summer, it starts with “5.”
  • In the fall, it start with “7.”

This five-digit number is what you use to enroll in a class.

Up to 6 hours

If a class is full and you place your name on the waiting list, you are placed on the list in whatever order you made the request. If someone drops the course, the computer automatically goes to the first person on the waitlist and places him/her in the class. However, if being placed in the class would put you over 18 hours, the request will fail, and the computer will go to the next person on the waitlist. If you place yourself on a waitlist for a class, keep checking to see if you have been placed in the class. You can be placed in the class anytime between midnight and the end of the last day to add classes. You should be notified by email at your TCU email address when you’re placed in the class and billed for it if your status changes from “FULL” to “ENROLLED,” so it’s important to check your schedule daily.

It is hard to determine whether classes will open. It varies by semester and class, often depending on whether all students who have pre-registered actually return to TCU. Usually, some students drop each semester. You can check your CLASS SCHEDULE on my.tcu.edu to see if your status has changed from “full” to “enrolled.”

Enter the class number on the “Step 1-Add A Class” page and click “Enter”. Under Class Preferences, enter the permission number and click “Next”.

When you have enrolled in all the classes you desire, you can print a copy of your
schedule by clicking on the Manage Classes tile. Click “Weekly Schedule” and then
“Printer Friendly Page” and then “Print”.
