Scholarships

Our scholarships open up a world of possibilities.

If you’re ready to commit to a challenging career, then an Army ROTC scholarship might be available for you, especially if you’re ready to become an Army nurse. In addition to TCU’s full range of scholarships, Army ROTC offers four, three and two-year scholarships, awarded strictly on merit to the most outstanding students who apply. The scholarship covers full tuition and fees.

Additionally, scholarship recipients receive a stipend of $420 a month plus $1,200 a year
for books. Qualified incoming first-year ROTC 4-year scholarship recipients will receive a room-and-board grant,  if they score at least 1290 on the SAT, 28 on the ACT. Eligible 3-year Advance Designee winners will receive 1/2 tuition and the room and board grant as well. Transfer scholarship winners must have a transfer GPA of 3.25 to receive the room and board grant.

Current and Transfer students need a cumulative and semester GPA of 2.5 on a 4.0 scale for all previous college course work. To apply, contact the recruiting office.

Additional Scholarships

If currently enlisted in the Army, you may qualify for a 4-, 3-, or 2-year scholarship. Green to Gold applicants, in addition to the requirements above, must complete two years of active duty prior to discharge and three months of service for every month of specialized training received. Applicants must not have over 10 years of active service and must not be a conscientious objector. Applicants must obtain a favorable recommendation from their chain of command and must be eligible to reenlist. They also need to pass the APFT, meet the height/weight standards, and pass a medical examination.

Applicants need a cumulative and semester GPA of 2.5 on a 4.0 scale for all previous college work. Two and three year scholarship winners must have a GT score of 110 or higher. Check with the Education Center at your installation or with the ROTC recruiter for other criteria as prescribed by regulation.

In recent years, the average Green to Gold scholarship winner had a GPA of 3.0 and a GT score of 110. SAT/ACT minimums are not required to apply for a two-year scholarship; for a four or three year applicant, you must have an SAT score of 1000 or above or an ACT score of 19 or above. You must also receive a letter of acceptance from the university and the Professor of Military Science. Contact your installation education office for more information about the Green to Gold Program.

The scholarship window is 15 November through 1 April.

Announcements are made by 30 June. If selected, your ETS date will be adjusted to 30 days prior to the start of the academic year.

Programs have been established permitting recipients to serve their obligated service in the Army National Guard (ARNG) or United States Army Reserve (USAR).

The 2-year Guaranteed Reserve Forces Duty (GRFD) program is designed to identify outstanding students on campus or in Reserve Component (RC) units and offer them the opportunity for a scholarship with service in the RC after graduation. This program expands scholarships availability to the entire range of college campuses and troop program units and increases both quantity and quality of participation in the ROTC program. Recipients must attend an institution offering Army ROTC within the state or Regional Division from which nominated.

Nursing scholarships can be awarded from any of the above categories. Prospective Army nurses will apply for the respective Army ROTC Nursing Scholarship. Nursing cadets must meet the same requirements as other cadets and be accepted into TCU’s Harris College of Nursing and Health Sciences.
