Awards

Franzwa Award for Outstanding Paper in Epistemology/Metaphysics

Awarded each academic year. Any major or minor in philosophy who has not received the award in a prior year is eligible to submit a paper. Papers can explore any topic in epistemology/metaphysics, and should be no more than 4,500 words in length. Award recipients will receive a stipend which varies from year to year.

McDiarmid Award for Outstanding Paper in Ethics

Awarded each academic year. Any major or minor in philosophy who has not received the award in a prior year is eligible to submit a paper. Papers can explore any topic in ethics, and should be no more than 4,500 words in length. Award recipients will receive a stipend which varies from year to year.

Wetzler Award for Achievement in Philosophy

Awarded each academic year. During their senior year, all philosophy majors will be considered for the award. Award recipients will receive a stipend which varies from year to year.

Teaching Assistantships

Philosophy offers two to three teaching assistantships in the fall and spring terms, and occasionally during the summer. Get teaching experience as an undergraduate student that will put you ahead in graduate school.
