Bachelor of Arts in Geography

The BA with a major in geography requires 30 semester hours, which include the following:

  • 12 hours of required courses
  • At least six hours of courses with the regional designation (GEOG 305XX)
  • At least six hours of courses with the systematic designation (GEOG 307XX)
  • Six hours of electives, selected from any upper-division geography courses.

No grade lower than C can be applied to the major.

 

Bachelor of Science in Geography

The BS with a major in geography requires 42 semester hours, plus associated requirements of six hours, which include the following:

  • Six hours of required courses
  • 15 hours of foundational courses
  • A minimum of three hours from GIS courses
  • A minimum of 12 hours of other upper-division geography courses
  • A minimum of nine hours of electives selected from two groups:
    • Urban with social focus
    • Earth and environmental sciences
  • Six hours of electives, selected from any of the upper-division courses listed in the BS degree plan.

No grade lower than C- can be applied to the major. A minor is not required.

 

Minor in Geography

The minor in geography requires the following:

  • 18 semester hours, including GEOG 10003 and 20013
  • Nine semester hours of upper-division geography courses
  • Three semester hours from GEOL 10113, 30113 or 40493.

No grade lower than C can be applied to the minor.
