Sarah Robbins will share examples from her current efforts to apply lessons from archival recovery of earlier women teachers’ “learning legacies.” TCU’s own GlobalEX, a co-curricular program supporting international and “domestic”/US students’ exploration of local/global issues, draws on institution-building reflected in the 1880s’ Spelman Messenger stories. “Writing Home,” a National Writing Project-supported initiative of community conversations tied to historic homeplaces around the country, channels Hull-House’s women-led civic education programs and Jane Addams’s stories about them.  Join the Department of English for the Spring Live Oak Reading Series. The first edition of the Live Oak Reading Series held on February 21st will feature Peter Turchi, author of six books and the co-editor of three anthologies.  He has received Washington College's Sophie Kerr Prize, an Illinois Arts Council Literary Award, North Carolina's Sir Walter Raleigh Award, and fellowships from the National Endowment for the Arts and the John Simon Guggenheim Memorial Foundation.The second and "Home Grown" edition will feature…
