Latinx Studies Requirements

The Latinx Studies (formerly Latina/o Studies) minor program explores the multiple cultures and traditions of the Latinx world in the United States, and their significance and contribution to American life and legacies of resistance. Students who minor in LTNX will find that they are able to apply their newly gained knowledge, skills, and abilities masterfully across various fields and job sectors, which is vital in an increasingly culturally and ethnically diverse society.

You may select from course offerings in the arts, humanities and the social sciences focusing on the cultural, political, historical, religious and social dimensions of U.S. Latinx communities. Our interdisciplinary suite of courses include topics such as Mexican-American history, Crimmigration, Latina Feminist Religious Thought, Contemporary Latinx Literature, Art of Mexico from 1500 to the Present, and more.

 

Minor Requirements

The minor in Latinx Studies requires 18 credit hours, including:
  • Three hours in Introduction to Latinx Studies
  • 15 hours chosen from at least three different departments
Other relevant courses may be counted towards the minor pending approval from the Director of the Latinx Studies Program.See the course catalog for a complete list of course offerings and descriptions.
